Insiders predict Mitchell Robinson will be the starter of the Knicks from 2025-26

The Knicks continue to add fragments to the roster before the 2025-26 season. New York knows that the Eastern Conference is weaker this season. Several teams lacked star players due to injuries.

The Knicks made an appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals in the 2025 playoffs. Unfortunately, they lost to the Pacers in six games. Head coach Tom Thibodeau was fired and Mike Brown was hired as his backup. Thibodeau changed the starting lineup before being canned. Mitchell Robinson started with center. NBA insider Zach Lowe reported that he believes New York will start the 2025-26 season with Robinson as the starter.

How many games will Mitchell Robinson start the Knicks in 2025-26?

In the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft, the Knicks chose Mitchell Robinson from Texas. He played all seven professional seasons in New York. Robinson participated in 337 games and won 199 games. His career-high game in 2021-22 was 72 when his 62 season began. Since then, Robinson’s highest total is 59 games in 2022-23. Robinson has missed a lot of time with injuries over the past three seasons.

Multiple ankle surgeries in 2023-24 have limited 17 games in just 17 games in the Knicks in 2024-25. Mitchell Robinson missed the first 58 games of the season and made his debut in early May. In the playoffs, Robinson returned to health and played high for the Knicks. Before Tom Thibodeau was fired, he founded Mitchell Robinson in his last four playoff games in New York.

NBA insider Zach Lowe believes that the Knicks can keep Robinson in the starting lineup for the 2025-26 season. Lowe predicts that Knicks first-year head coach Mike Brown will start Mitchell Robinson. If that’s true, Josh Hart might stand out from the bench. This will allow Carl-Anthony Town to play PF. Just like when Rudy Gobert and Timberwolves were together, he did it with him.

The Knicks are able to survive as their starting center in the regular season of 2024-25. However, his defensive flaws are the goal of opponents in the playoffs. When Mitchell Robinson started with the town of Karl-Anthony, New York did have a greater success. These changes happened too late and the Knicks lost in the playoffs. Given the deeper fact that New York has in 2025-26, they can always adjust the starting lineup if Robinson struggles.
