The late billionaire’s top 100 golf courses are opening – if some are slightly

It has been the top 100 beluga whale for over 20 years, a respected course that is so elusive that many wealthy and good golfers have tried and failed to watch it.

There is no other way left for the late Australian media tycoon Kerry Packer.

Ellerston is his passion project, a family shelter hidden in the folds of Hunter Valley about four hours north of Sydney, Packer envisions as a private playground for a small group of families, colleagues and friends. One of the friends is Australian golf legend Greg Norman, who designed Ellerston in collaboration with renowned architect Bob Harrison. Packer gave to two Carte Blanche He has occupied an acre of labor pasture and local jungle in his family for decades. They can choose the best package under only two conditions: the course must be beauty and beast.

The architects responded with a route of over 8,000 yards, and its dramaticity was in high demand in their drama and strategically etched through the higher landscape, while Pages Creek started to play in about half of the holes. Packer kept a close eye on his expectations while the course was under construction.

“But is it difficult enough?” he would ask repeatedly.

yes.

At the opening ceremony in 2001, Ellerston had a slope rating of 153, the highest of any course in Australia. Ellerston has been a necessary regular on the roster in the years since and has risen 62nd on the world’s 100 course golf roster.

But if Ellerston’s efforts are tough, landing serve time is still even harder. In recent years, less than 20 guests have participated in the competition every year. Now, though, an open course opens the door to a large extent, and that’s how it opens the door slightly.

Starting this October, Ellerston will welcome approximately a group of four to eight players a month, one of which is one of the opportunities: a one-day visit, including golf, caddy, food and drinks in the course and round-trip air transport from Sydney; or overnight, which includes all of the above, plus dinner, breakfast, second round and lunch before departure.

Traveling at 8 a.m. is one of the few travel agencies Ellerston chose to promote these trips. For more information, visit 8amtravel.com.
