Top teachers share a three-step guide to playing golf in the wind

If you ever find yourself feeling frustrated on the track, you are not alone. For amateurs, the score tends to climb as the wind in, and it is easy to fall into some common faults caused by the wind.
Of course, the wind changes the flight of the golf ball – but I found that the real damage happened upstairs. The truth is, the wind mentally affects most golfers. Most players are either afraid of the wind or try to extinguish it, and both methods tend to work well.
So, how do you navigate this fickle course condition? Let’s dive.
Why golfers struggle in the wind
When the wind begins, the natural reaction of many players is to swing harder. Often, they try to make the ball muscle muscles by going upwind, or if they go downwind, many amateurs try to take advantage of it by following it more. Unfortunately, this usually backfires.
In golfing, harder swing rarely means better results. Often, this just means less control and higher ball flights – when waves, you don’t need anything.
After all, wind rewards discipline, not brute force.
3 keys to simply grasp the conditions of strong winds
If you have trouble controlling the ball flying in the wind, there are three key adjustments that can be made to improve immediately.
1. Playing on your position
Moving the ball back slightly can make you stand out, which will naturally bring the trajectory downwards. Lower flights mean less wind energy and more predictable results.

Generally speaking, the wind blows directly towards you every 10 mph. This is not a perfect science, but it works very well. This allows you to make your swing smoother, more controlled, rather than trying to force the ball to walk the normal distance.
3. Swing slower
You may have heard the saying, “It’s easy to sway when it’s breeze.” While it seems counterintuitive, swaying a little slower can actually help you keep the ball flying more thoroughly. Faster swings produce more spins and pass the ball to higher speeds – which is exactly what you don’t want. Slower equals lower, lower winds are better in the wind.
Remember, you don’t need to be afraid of the wind, and you should never fight it.
