The NBA negotiated a new media rights agreement during the offseason, which changed the way fans were playing on his sports. However, negative effects that NBA Commissioner Adam Silver cannot see may have negative effects. Recently, Silver called the NBA a “focused sport.” This doesn’t get along well with the stubborn fans in the league.

After not having enough coverage in the past, the NBA may have gone too far in the 2025-26 season and beyond. Over the past few years, the game has been played with TNT, ESPN/ABC, NBA League Pass and local channels. However, the NBA is expanding to more media. This includes NBC/Peacock, Disney/ESPN and Amazon Prime videos. Often, fans will have to watch streaming services instead of actual channels.
To watch the NBA game next season, fans will need to subscribe to multiple streaming services. This has caused anger among NBA fans. Recently, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver spoke at the Governors’ Meeting. He discussed the alliance’s new media rights agreement. Specialist Silver asked fans that they couldn’t afford multiple streaming services to watch the game.

His response was not something fans wanted to hear from the league specialist. Adam Silver said fans can still watch the free highlights and call the NBA a “highlights sport.” He basically told fans that if they can’t afford the streaming service, they’ll be unfortunate. Instead, they should watch the league’s free highlights. They are getting access from fans who want to watch the sport.
Adam Silver said there are free highlights for fans to watch. But what about fans who want to watch the entire game or their team? If these fans don’t have subscriptions to several streaming services, they will be unfortunate. This is not a problem for fans who still have cables or can afford multiple streaming services. What about those fans who don’t have such visits? Will they be trapped in the highlights of watching the whole year? Games are sometimes played on TV, but they do a regular streaming service.
