Brave Note: Murphy, King, Snitke

catcher Sean Murphy Baseball Operations President Alex Anthopoulos told Alex Anthopoulos last night (via link to MLB.com’s Mark Bowman). Murphy has been in pain “will come and go” (according to Anthopoulos) but the problem has recently reached a turning point and prompted the MRI to look at the severity of the problem. This suggests Murphy’s hip is torn, which will require seasonal surgery. The program will be executed Thursday.
“…While talking to it [Dr. Thomas Byrd, who’ll perform the surgery] Today, he was shocked [Murphy] People have been touching huge tears for the past three years. ” Anthopoulos said.
Murphy hit .233/.332/.491 (126 WRC+) in 271 sets at the end of July, but his offensive output started in August. From August 1 to now, his final game of the season will drop in his last game on Saturday, with him playing 4-4 with a strikeout rate of 34.8%. The resulting .068/.167/.085 hit line serves as a screaming indication that Murphy is obviously incorrect.
Anthopoulos also talks about the topic of shortstop recently claimed ha-seong kimhe has the $16mm player option for the 2026 season (via link to David O’Brien of the Sports). Atlanta’s long-term baseball action president also admitted to talking with the Rays about Kim’s deadline, and while there was no agreement, the group was happy to capture Kim’s immunity and hoped that the 29-year-old (30 next month) would choose to enter the second season of the contract.
“[G]In our club, he knows us, we know him – whether he doesn’t choose to quit or do that, we’re in a better position,” Anthopoulos said of King: “We know more about each other. If he had been to Tampa and chose (choose), now we come to the table to talk to him, I can’t tell you that we separate ourselves from any other team he hasn’t played in. ”
For Goldbody, it was a failure of the whole season. The former Padres had shoulder surgery last October and signed a two-year, $29mm deal with Tampa Bay, with season two being the player’s choice. King returned in early July, but has been injured twice since then due to trouble in the lower back. King has only .231/.302/.346 (81 WRC+) overall, but he has performed well in six games, Atlanta: 6-20, home runs, walks, walks, strikeouts with only 3 appearances.
In his best case, King is a runner with shortstop plus defense and almost average strength. He would draw walks in above-average clips and play more frequently than the standard major leagues. He wasn’t at his best in 2025, but given the weak market for free agent shortstops and the lack of defensiveness to stand out internal alternatives Nick AllenIt makes sense that Atlanta jumped up and brought Kim Jong Il into the fold. There is no firm guarantee that he will choose his 16mm player choice, but this year his struggle makes it a real possibility, at which point the Brave is effectively bringing him 26 times the year into a one-year pillow contract.
Of course, one of the biggest questions in the Braves’ mind is who will manage the club next season. Brian Snitker just won his 800th management victory this week, but when asked about being asked later this season in March, the 69-year-old brave man’s life was undoubtedly in doubt.
When asked about the future of his manager, Anthopoulos (via O’Brien) said Snitker would be “always in this organization” but declined to discuss whether this means whether Snitker will continue to manage the team. Anthopoulos did reveal that the team “absolutely did not” start working on the background of potential replacements, adding that Snitker did so “totally disrespectful”.
Snitker has been working in the organization for nearly 50 years after Bobby Cox in a brave management victory, with the last nine being managers of Major League Baseball. Previously, he managed him at almost every minor league level in the system, spent more than a decade on the Major League Baseball coaching staff (Cowpent coach, third base coach), and worked on a variety of teaching abilities in the brave minor league team.
Fans – especially the brave fans – hope to view O’Brien’s work on Murphy, Kim, Snitker for all quotes Drake BaldwinRookie of the Year candidate, from Ozzie Albies and Michael Harris IIand more.
