Golf fans in December at Donald Trump course

Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler will face to face at a live television show at Donald Trump’s National Golf Club in Jupiter, Florida.

The skills-based display event is scheduled to take place on December 17, with broadcasts available on both the golf channel and the U.S. network.

McIlroy and Scheffler will be captaining on their respective teams, which will be a fun and fast-paced game.

The four-man team will face four completely different skill challenges.

First, competitors will face timing driving and chip and putter challenges. The player’s goal is to implement a specific benchmark within a specified time limit.

Secondly, players will face the challenges of 14 clubs. Essentially, it was the closest needle game, with both teams sharing a 14 club. Once the club is used, it can be eliminated from the game.

The next timed gunfight in the list. This is composed of a three-hole alternate shooting format, where teammates place it at different points in the course – such as fairways or green.

The exhibition will culminate with a one-on-one challenge between the two captains. McIlroy and Scheffler will do one-on-one, shooting from 100-yard wedges, bunkers, green, 50-foot and 10-foot putts. Anyone with the smallest distance of the hole will win.

A new vision for golf

The organizers behind the exhibition hope it will provide a fresh and innovative perspective for golf.

The entertainment-driven aspect of the game draws inspiration from other sports glasses, such as the NFL combine or the All-Star game.

Tom Knapp, executive vice president of the golf channel, publicly shared his vision for the event.

He told Reuters: “We wanted to create a competitive new golf game that showed off the best players in the world and hit specific shooting and drawing strategies with a running clock.

“It’s a treat to have an opportunity to create an annual season-end golf tournament that includes Rory and Scottie at one of a golf clubs in South Florida. It should be fun.”

It is unclear who will join McIlroy and Scheffler in December and will release an announcement in the coming weeks.
