Orioles designated Corbin Martin, Elvin Ródríguez for distribution

Oriole announces right-handed Taylor Wells and infielder/outfielder Jorge Mateo Recovered from the 60-day list of injuries. catcher Maverick Handli In a corresponding active lineup, Triple-A Norfolk has been selected. Right-handed Corbin Martin Has been assigned as an allocation to open a second active roster and a 40-person position. Right-leaning Elvin RíguezThose engaged in optional allocations have also been designated as another corresponding 40 relocation. The activation of the well was reported last week.
Mateo has been out of the box since June due to a hamstring injury. The quick private figure hit .180/231/.279 on home runs, making 14 steals in 65 sets before making it to the injured roster. The 30-year-old has never offered a lot of offense, but even by his standards it is more shy than normal. In the 2021-24 1300-dish look, Mateo cut .225/.271/.371 (79 WRC+), with 29 home runs and 90 stolen bases. However, Mateo has long provided quality gloves at shortstop, and he can deliver elite speed on the base while handling second, third or midfield.
It was the last guaranteed season the Orioles spent with Mateo, although they could keep him with the club options for next season. They need to bring him back to the 5.5mm price point, but it feels steep considering his season and his previous lack of offensive production. The option was not acquired, making it more likely that O would reject it, although it was always possible that they tried to bring him back to a lower speed.
Martin, 29, has made several appearances in Baltimore’s roster this year. Near the trade, he lost 18 innings, allowing 12 runs in the 6.00 ERA. He probably deserves something better. His 10.1% walk rate is high, but his 25.8% strikeout rate and 44.2% ground ball rate are reliable numbers. The average hit average and 65.7% stock rate appear to be increasing. His 3.57 Siera points out that prevention is better.
Anyway, O has decided to move on again. Martin has no options, so it cannot be easily sent to minors. As the trade deadline passed, he was destined to exempt wires. If some clubs claim him, he can control the four seasons after this season. He cleared the waiver in July, so he might do it again. The last time he cleaned up, he exercised his right to elect a free agent, which is another thing that could happen again in the coming days.
Rodríguez, 27, signed with the winemaker in January and has some good results in Japan. Unfortunately, he was unable to succeed in North America this year. The winemaker assigned him to work on his mission in July, when the Oriole requested him.
Between the two clubs, he has a 9.15 ERA in the 19 2/3 Major League Innings. He also threw 40 1/3 Triple-A innings with a 4.46 ERA, 18.3% strikeout rate and 5.3% walking rate. Although the results are not good, he still has options, so maybe he will attract a club to find extra depth for minors.
