76ers Wells Fargo Center is renamed Xfinity Mobile Arena

Wells Fargo Center, home of Philadelphia 76ers, officially transitioned to Xfinity Mobile Arena on Tuesday, according to a Comcast press release.

The new naming rights agreement for 76ers continues until 2031

Comcast unveiled a new sign outside the arena Tuesday morning. The new naming rights agreement with Comcast Spectacor will continue until 2031.

“Philadelphia is home to the country’s most passionate fans, and this competitive spirit is the perfect complement to the Xfinity mobile brand,” said Steve Croney, COO of Comcast Connect and Platforms.

The Arena is home to the 76ers, the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyer and the NLL’s Philadelphia Wing. This is the fifth name of the building that serves as the center of Correstates since its opening in 1996.

Other previous names include the First League Center and the Wachovia Center.

“This arena is the host of the South Philadelphia sports complex and the wider area,” said Dan Hilferty, chairman and CEO of Comcast Optics Store.

“When we complete our historical relationship with Wells Fargo, we want to ensure that our new partners are able to work with our passion for providing world-class service to our fans and guests. We are committed to continuing to invest in our venues to ensure we are at the forefront of technology, innovation and cutting-edge fan experiences.”

Xfinity Mobile Arena has upgraded Wi-Fi capabilities

76ers Jared McCain and VJ Edgecombe made their debut live with Flyers players Travis Sanheim and Sean Couturier.

Per Gabriela Carroll Philadelphia Inquirerthe arena is expected to have upgraded Wi-Fi capabilities, with 10 times faster and Wi-Fi coverage in the arena parking lot.

“With our partners at Comcast and Comcast Spectacor, we share a shared vision of enhancing South Philadelphia’s home court advantage, and this announcement is another step in an exciting new chapter,” said Tad Brown, CEO of 76ers and Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment.

“Xfinity Mobile Arena will enhance connectivity and high-speed features for fans to maximize their internal experience. By focusing on new and emerging technologies, Xfinity Mobile Arena will enable fans to create incredible memories in future games, concerts and live events.”

Comcast first launched Xfinity Mobile to consumers across the country in 2017.

The Sixers will hold their first preseason game at Xfinity Mobile Arena on October 10. Their regular season opener will be held on October 25, when they will host the Charlotte Hornets.
