CEO grabs the boy’s hat and opens it to us, saying he made a “huge mistake”

The man caught by the camera snatched a little boy’s hat at the U.S. Open, saying he made a “huge mistake” after the incident was recorded.
Piotr Szczerek, the Polish CEO of a paving company, said he was “convinced” that tennis star Kamil Majchrzak has been “passing the hat in my direction”.
“I know I did something that seemed to consciously collect souvenirs from the kids,” he wrote in a statement. “It was not my intention, but it did not change the fact that I hurt the boy and disappoint the fans.”
The video was filmed at the Majchrzak match on Thursday, which showed that tennis players offered the kids a hat, and then Mr Szczerek seemed to accept it.
The clip’s version has been widely shared on social media and has drawn criticism of Mr. Szczerek’s behavior.
“I want to ignore the injured boy, his family and all the fans and players themselves,” the 50-year-old wrote on social media on Monday.
He added that he had returned the hat to the boy and hoped it would “at least partially repair the damage caused.”
When the incident unfolded, Majchrzak, 29, had just won the match against Russia’s ninth seed Karen Khachanov, who told the New York Post on Saturday that “apparently it’s some kind of chaos.”
“I pointed at the hat, but after I was so excited about the victory after the game, I had a lot to do.”
“I just missed it. If you know what I mean, I feel like my expression is like a glance.
The tennis star reunited with the boys over the weekend, sharing his clips, giving young fans a hat and other merchandise on Instagram.
The tennis star wrote: “After warming up today, I had a good meeting [the cap]? ”
Majchrzak ranked 76th in the world in men’s singles, defeated Khachanov in the second round of Flushing Meadows but was forced to retire in the first round of Saturday against Switzerland’s Leandro Riedi.
Later he confirmed that he had torn the intercostal muscles.
Polish media Tenis Magazyn reported that Mr. Szczerek and his wife Anna formed his paving company Drogbruk in 1999. The company sponsors sports events and Polish athletes.
According to Tenis Magazyn, the couple and their two sons are amateur tennis players who play in the local league and host Polish tennis Pro Urszula Radwańska at their home court.
