Who is here? Who missed it? Luke Donald’s European roster reveals

The European team has made only one change to the team that won the Ryder Cup in 2023.

Captain Luke Donald decided to enjoy the experience and turned to Shane Lowry, Sepp Straka, Viktor Hovland, Ludvig Aberg, Jon Rahm and Matt Fitzpatrick to get his wildcard.

Rory McIlroy, Robert MacIntyre, Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood, Tyrrell Hatton and Rasmus Hojgaard have already qualified for the competition and completed 12 players.

Hojgaard’s inclusion marks the only change in the team that won the Ryder Cup in Rome two years ago.

Dane replaced his twin brother Nicolai, who last stood out in European colors.

When Donald explained the reasons behind his wildcard selection, Donald told Sky Sports: “There is a lot of continuity in Rome, which is a little unusual, but shows how they perform.

“But despite the continuity, this is another animal to play in the United States. We know how difficult it is. I looked at many different angles in order to prepare us for the challenges ahead.

“It’s about implementing new technology. I know we’ve lost a big advantage in the last four Ryder Cups.

“I have tried my best to provide the best opportunity for the team.”

Who missed it?

Matt Wallace is a barely missed choice, and he seemed to be expecting the decision at the end of Sunday’s DP World Tour European Championships.

People like Marco Penge, Thomas Detry, Harry Hall and Aaron Rai were also considered, but Donald ended up being consistent as Europe won the Ryder Cup on US soil for the first time since 2012.

At that time, the Europeans descended from 10-6 on the last day and won the “Medina Miracle”.

American team takes revenge

The Americans are expected to offer another harsh test later this month, while Keegan Bradley has chosen a strong 12-man team.

Captain America confirmed his six wildcard picks last week. Despite being ranked 11th, he also decided not to include himself as a player.

The American traveled to New York with Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Ben Griffin, Cameron Young, Patrick Cantley, Sam Burns, Scottie Scheffler, JJ Spaun, Xander Schauffele, Russell Schauffele, Russell Henley, Harris English, Harris English, Harris English, Harris English and Bryson Dechambeau.
