NHL Rumor: Montreal Canadians and Edmonton Oilers

Carey’s price should be easier to trade after getting a bonus on September 1

Montreal Hockey Mark Dumont: Montreal Canadians have a salary cap of about $3.4 million, including Carey Price’s full contract. He qualifies to be placed on the LTIR, but that is not ideal for Canadians. They can seek to trade his contract and have some potential trading partners.

San Jose Sharks and Anaheim Ducks under salary caps. Price’s cap is $10.5 million, with a base salary of $20 million, and will be paid a $5.5 million signing bonus on September 1. More teams may be interested after paying the signing bonus.

The Chicago Blackhawks, Seattle Cleken and Pittsburgh Penguins also have salary cap space.

NHL Rumors: Chicago Blackhawks and Toronto Maple Leaf

Canadians may have to add sweeteners to complete the deal. They may have to include mediocre draft picks.

Connor McDavid is still considering his choice

Chris Johnston of Track and Field: Connor McDavid is still discussing his choice. Many thought he would sign the extension in early September, just as Leon Draisaitl did last year. It can still happen, but after last week’s comments, but not as sure as before.

He said his intention was to bring the Stanley Cup to Edmonton. Does he think oilers are organizations that can be built around him? If he doesn’t sign an extension before the start of the October 8 Japanese season, speculation within Edmonton and the rest of the league will go crazy.

NHL Rumor: Edmonton Oiler – Goalkeeper Choice, McDavid Distracts

Mitch Marner has experienced it in the past season, although McDavid will be a bigger story. McDavid basically just needs to tell the Oiler what his terms are and they might do that. His highest contract may be eight years, with $19.1 million per season.
