US Open 2025: Top British seeds Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool in the first round

Britain’s top seeds Lloyd Glasspool and Julian Cash suffered a shocking first-round exit at the U.S. Open.
This summer, the couple became an all-English partnership to win the Wimbledon men’s doubles title for the first time in 89 years, defeated 7-6 (8-6) 7-6 (7-6) by Robert Galloway of the United States and Alexander Eller of Austria.
Cash and Glasspool won four of the last six events they have participated since the French Open, including in Toronto earlier this month.
However, they looked tired as the two succumbed to two intense matches.
Elsewhere, Britain’s sixth seeds Neal Skupski and Joe Salisbury drove past the United States with a 6-3 6-4 victory against George Goodhoff and Reese Stalder.
In women’s doubles, Katie Boulter and Sonay Kartal went into the second round with a 6-1 5-7 7-6 (10-5).
The British’s respective small ball sports ended in the first round, ending the game with a 5-3 score in the decision scene, but a tense service game from Boulter changed the momentum, instead, the couple needed a tiebreak to win the exciting game.
