US Open 2025 results: Iga Swiatek recovers from second plate dipping to beat Suzan Lamens and enters round 3

Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek entered the third round of the U.S. Open but admitted she “made some mistakes” in a tough three-set victory.

The second seed Swiatek competed in the first set against Dutch opponents and explored such a dominant early win, which has become her trademark.

The 24-year-old took two breaks in the second set, but her frustration grew as her levels dropped drastically, making Lamens the route to the game.

Pole took a double break in the Decider and ended up winning 6-1 4-6 6-4 in Arthur Ashe Stadium in two hours and six minutes.

Swiatek will play the 29th seed Anna Kalinskaya in the third round after Kazakhstan’s Russia beat Yulia Putintseva 6-1 7-5.
