President stirs pot with large wildcards

U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that he will be attending the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black while supporting Keegan Bradley, not only leading the team, but also playing as a competitor.
The 45th Ryder Cup between the U.S. and Europe will be held in New York from September 26 to 28 as Europe hopes to defend their 2023 championship.
Two years ago, the champion beat the United States in Rome, and Captain Luke Donald is pushing his team to become the first team to win in the United States since 2012.
Trump is a golf fanatic who is loyal to the world and has a wide portfolio of golf courses in the United States and Europe.
Donald Trump to attend the opening day of the 2025 Ryder Cup
The president announced the truth social: “It will be a great Ryder Cup. I will be in the game on Friday with the invitation of the PGA Tour.”
With confirmed attendance, Trump further aroused the U.S. National Highway team by publicly supporting Bradley as the first captain since Arnold Palmer.
In 1963, Palmer became the last person to combine captains with playing duties and led the United States to win in the Ryder Cup.
Trump released: “Keegan Bradley should definitely be on the Ryder Cup team – as captain! He is an amazing person.”
The 39-year-old captain and major champion enjoyed a great season in 2025, where he won the Travelers title and won the title of the 12 Best Players in the United States.
Team USA has Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, JJ Spaun, Russell Henley, Harris English and Bryson DeChambeau confirmed as automatic qualifiers.
Captain Bradley will reveal his wildcard pick on Wednesday, announcing the remaining six team members.
Do U.S. presidents usually participate in the Ryder Cup?
It is not uncommon for presidents to be invited to the Ryder Cup, with several former sojourners participating in historic competitions.
Former Captain America Davis Love III joined team members Phil Mickelson and Bubba Watson to send an in-person invitation to Barack Obama during a 2011 White House visit.
Bill Clinton was a passionate golf fan during his presidency, but was not invited to compete. He was the famous American team led by Tom Watson in 1993.
However, several team members are not fans of him or his party.
Watson believes his team must show due respect to the White House, and Clinton’s enthusiasm and golf knowledge have reportedly won several members.
Keegan Bradley: “The biggest decision of my life”
The T7 match at the Tour Championship this weekend further supported his qualifications, but he acknowledged the scale of his decision at East Lake.
Bradley admitted that speaking with reporters during the Tour Championship: “This is the biggest decision in my life.
“I know very well that no matter what decision I make, I will be defined by it.
“If we win, it doesn’t matter what I do. I am fine.
“Usually, if you win, you’re the best captain, and when you lose, you’re the worst.”
The action at the Tour Championship over the weekend will be the final indicator of Bradley’s expected 12-man lineup before the completion of the project at the press conference.
Several players from the US and European teams have improved their chances, and with the emergence of table players, some will inevitably create missed opportunities.
