Kris crowned champion at the annual Golf Trust Open – Golf News

The annual Golf Trust welcomed 50 disabled golfers to the county last week to celebrate the power of sport and community solidarity.

Supported by volunteers from Mercedes, laureus Sport and Irwin Mitchell, the event demonstrates determination, inclusion and achievement.

The overall champion was Kris Aves, who was impressive with 39 points.

Kris, a former Metropolitan Police officer, suffered spinal cord injuries during the 2017 Westminster terrorist attack.

Thanks to the use of the Golf Trust and the Pychedes, he returned to the sport and ended up winning this year.

In addition to the overall championship, the division champions are crowned in multiple categories:

Jake Taylor – 0-18 Obstacle Category
Bryan Banham – 19-27 Obstacle Category
Cedric Bloch – 28+ Disability Categories
Alfie Sherwood – Challenge Cup winner (accessible)

The Golf Trust was founded in 2012 and is committed to bringing people together through golf.

Its work has helped thousands of people experience the game, break down barriers, and demonstrated how golf can become a driver of social mobility, community connections and healthier lives.

By adjusting the sport to suit the needs of individuals, families and the community as a whole, the charity demonstrates the unique ability of golf to be at most four generations in the course.

Founder Cae Menai-Davies praised the success of the day:

“Thank you to everyone who attended and supported this day. This event has always been a wonderful celebration of disability and golf. It also shows the strength that golf has to bring people together. Congratulations to Chris and all other departments for the winners.”
