Nottingham Forest coach needs to stitch after overzealous goal celebration

Nottingham Forest beat Brentford 3-1 on the city ground to beat the 2025/26 season 3-1. However, for Forest goalkeeper Rui Barbosa, it was a day to forget – maybe he already had it.
After Chris Wood opened the score just five minutes after the start of the game, Barbosa celebrated wildly, jumping out of her seat – just smashing her head straight on the canoe, causing him to bleed heavily.
The Portuguese coach soon received attention from medical staff, and after the game, Forest head coach Nuno Espirito Santo revealed that Barbosa needed stitches to fix his head.
“He has six needles!” Santo said. “That’s a nasty person. A bad one. He’s dizzy.”
As for the rest of the game – Santo was unreservedly excited thanks to Wood’s support and the amazing dive heads signed for the summer.
“I’m so happy,” he said after the game. “The way we started the game was amazing. We played very well, we dominated, and we controlled the energy of the team and the stadium in the first five minutes.”
To be sure: Barbosa must have felt this energy—and the sharp end of the canoe—more than most people.
