Marco Penge wins the Denmark Golf Championship – Golf News

Marco Penge fell with the dramatic turnaround of Rasmus Højgaard to win his second DP World Tour title at the Denmark Golf Championship.
Højgaard had his second victory in three years in three years, when he clearly surged four shots on the sixth hole. But on the seventh bogey, followed by the ninth bogey, erased his advantage and allowed Penge to pick up the birdie on the third and eighth, scoring levels.
The British took the lead when Højgaard shot again in the 10th inning and then extended to two leads with a great birdie on the 13th. Although Penge was shaken by the only bogey on the 16th, he bounced back with a birdie on the 17th to restore his mat, under the age of 15.
“I’ve been doing well this year,” Page said. “I’ve come back from my vacation and win after that to achieve what makes me so great. My goal is not to become complacent, my team and my family make me work harder and more. The respect for Rasmus – hit the last shot and forced me to win, which was incredible.”
Rotherham’s Ben Schmidt finished third in third place after finishing with 68 points.
Pengge’s victory brought an additional bonus: a prize of $200,000 (£148,000) and a championship ranking in the final nine events of the season. He also made $10,000 (£7,400) for his 64 opening bike races (which was the lowest score of the week).
Højgaard still threatened very late, producing a stunning eagle in five-shot 18 to instant tie. But Penge kept his nerves, rolling on the clutch birdie putt to win at Furesø Golf.
