World No. 3 Iga Swiatek beat Elena Rybakina 7-5 6-3 to make his first final in the Cincinnati Open.
2022 England champion Rybakina swept the world number one and defending champion Aryna Sabalenka in the quarterfinals.
However, after returning to an early break in the opening game, dominant Wimbledon champion Swiatek was always in control.
“It was a tough game,” said the Polish third seed. “It was crazy at first, and we played so fast that sometimes we couldn’t even run to the second ball.
“I was there to play intensity and good quality and I was very happy with the performance.
“In the final, it will be very tough. I will have to be tactical, but I will focus on myself and try to continue the work I’ve been doing.”
Swiatek, 24, will face Italy’s Jasmine Paolini or Russia’s Veronika Kudermetova in the final Monday.
