Hurzeler’s “very, very confident” Baleba will stay in Brighton,

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler said Carlos Baleba was “very, very confident” that Carlos Baleba will remain at the club despite Manchester United’s interest.

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim reportedly is eager to introduce the 21-year-old midfielder as part of his overhaul, after making a huge investment in the offensive plan earlier in the window.

Since Lille joined the Premier League, Baleba has been impressed and developed into another outstanding example of Brighton’s cultivation of young talents.

However, it is understood that Seagulls asked Cameroon International to request more than £100 million, reflecting his importance to Hurzeler’s plan to enter his second season.

The midfielder missed the final part of Brighton’s pre-season due to a knee injury, but it’s right now to be in the Premier League opener against Fulham at Amex Stadium on Saturday.

Hurzeler confirmed: “He is the choice to start tomorrow.” He added that he saw that Baleba’s attitude “has no change” and that the players seemed to be in a “very good place” with their teammates.

Brighton has parted ways with Joao Pedro, who joined Chelsea for a large fee, while Pervis Estupinan and Simon Adingra have left.

Evan Ferguson has loaned Roma. New signings Charalampos Kostoulas and Maxim de Cuyper both made their debut this weekend.
