NBA insider Chris Haynes reported that Kai Jones worked out for the Miami Heat on Monday. In addition, Heat insider Barry Jackson said the fire preparation plan will continue Jones until Thursday. Kai Jones is a player who is really interested in signing in Miami. Jackson mentioned that Jones will be Miami’s No. 15 player and they will receive a standard contract for the roster. Jones is not eligible for a two-way deal.

In the 19th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, the New York Knicks picked Kay Jones from Texas. On draft night, Jones traded from the Knicks to the Hornets. The 24-year-old spent the first two seasons of his career in Charlotte. Jones competed in 67 Hornets and started at zero. Jones was released by the Hornets after a trade request at the end of the 2022-23 season.
In the 2023-24 season, Jones signed a 10-day contract with the Philadelphia 76ers. He never showed up on the main lineup and was only suitable for the Delaware Blue Colts. In April 2024, Jones signed a two-way deal with the Los Angeles Clippers. In the 2024-25 season, Jones played 28 games for the Clippers. In March, he was released by the Clippers but later signed with Dallas.
