NHL Rumor: Some teams may still want to take some action

During the offseason, there are some teams that may still be seeking action

Adam Proteau of Hockey News: We’ve reached August and things have slowed down around the NHL. Some teams may still want to take care of some business.

Calgary Flames – There is still speculation about what the Flames will do with defenseman Rasmus Andersson. Flame wants to compete, but the deal Anderson will put them back. They can’t compete with top teams, so collecting future assets may not be a bad thing.

Edmonton Oilers – Will the Oilers go with Stewart Skinner and Calvin Picard again? There is also the Connor McDavid extension. The Oilers have just over $200,000 in blocking space, and the top UFA goalkeepers are Alexandar Georgiev, Ilya Samsonov and James Reimer. They may have to wait until the transaction deadline.

Minnesota Wild – RFA forward Marco Rossi is supposedly not suitable for long-term plans in the wild. They can make a one- or two-year deal to see if anything will change.

NHL Rumor: Destinations for the Wild and Caprizov and Jack Roslovic this month

Montreal Canadains – Canadians can put Carey Price and his $10.5 million cap into LTIR and can use $4.57 million in projected cap space. They hope to make the playoffs this year, so they may use that cap space now and before the trade deadline.

Toronto Maple Leafs – (Leaf now has just over $1 million in blocking space after Nick Robertston re-signed). It’s hard to see Robertson’s place on the leaf list. They may want to trade him. There is still some room to bring someone into PTO, just like last year with Max Pacioretty.

The future of Nick Robertson and Toronto Maple Leafs remains in doubt

Chris Johnston of Track and Field: So the Toronto Maple Leafs settled before a salary arbitration with Nick Robertson for a one-year contract of $1.825 million. Despite signing, he still has questions about his future with Maple Leaf.

Robertson asked for a trade last summer, and his game time was only three of 13 games in the playoffs. Leafs may want to move his salary out, and he may be joining David Kampf and Calle Jarnkrok’s work.

NHL Rumors: Carter Hart and Erik Karlsson

If he can gain the trust of his coach, the 23-year-old still has offensive upside. He needs to perform better on the other side of the hockey and make better hockey decisions.
