Kevin Love is “actively exploring” ways to separate from jazz

Kevin Love was shipped to jazz as part of the three-team deal. In this deal, Miami acquired Norman Powell from the Clippers. Love has just completed his 17th professional season.

The 36-year-old stays away from his former players. Love has an average of only 10.9 minutes per game in 2024-25, the lowest in his career. Rumors around the league are that love wants to return in 2025-26. But, not with Utah. NBA insider Marc Stein reported that love is “actively exploring” ways to leave jazz.

Where will Kevin Love play in 2025-26?

At his peak, Kevin Love was an All-Star big man who influenced the winning basketball. He is part of the 2016 Cavaliers championship lineup. Love’s work has begun to decline over the past three seasons. Five-time All-Stars are nearing the end of his career and he doesn’t want to spend it on jazz. Kevin Love is “actively exploring” the way to leave Utah this offseason. Marc Stein reported that the acquisition contract was a possible situation.

At this stage of his career, Kevin Love’s contract acquisition was only $4.5 million. If jazz trades him, it’s an easy contract to move. Additionally, they can buy his contract and make him a free agent. During the offseason, there were rumors that the Lakers and the Knicks were the destination of an NBA championship.

Joining the Lakers will allow Love to reunite with his former teammate LeBron James. The 36-year-old has been chasing at the end of his career. Los Angeles certainly had a chance to win the final with LeBron James and Luka Doncic. New York is another team to compete for the championship next season.

The Knicks reached the Eastern Conference Finals in 2025 but lost to the Pacers. They will bring back the core of the roster in 2025-26 and will become a strong team in the East. Kevin Love can join the Knicks as the veteran on the bench is on the court. He has the championship DNA that is valuable to New York. Love is a glue that has been well respected around the NBA. It’s only a matter of time until he disperses his way with jazz.
