Director confirms

It has attacked cinemas for the first time in more than two decades and captured the soul around the world, a sequel Bend like Beckham Formal development.

Director Gurinder Chadha has confirmed that the follow-up to the 2002 Cult Football Classic is on the way – aiming to launch in 2027 to mark the 25th anniversary of the film and the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

The original book, starring Parminder Nagra and Keira Knightley, follows the story of Jess and Jules, two teenagers who go against cultural and social norms to pursue their love for football. Filled with laughter, tears, family drama and moments of victory, it quickly became one of the most popular football movies of all time.

Now, Chadha says the time to return to that world is the right one.

She told The Original Movie that there have been a lot of changes. ” BBC. “But I think people still don’t think women should play football. Some people still don’t take it seriously.”

She added that the idea of a sequel exploded with interest in women’s football, especially after England’s Lioness won the Euro 2025 European Cup.

While the form is still to be decided (whether it’s a movie or a TV series), Chadha hopes to bring back some original cast and laugh at the current guest-star possibility of England International.

“I’m pretty sure everyone wants to come back,” she said. “It all depends on the script, if the original actor likes it. I’m really working hard to make sure every character I bring back has a decent arc.”

While David Beckham may no longer be the poster boy for British football, the spirit of the story continues. So what will they call it this time? Curved like Kelly? Time will prove.
