Tom Brady ‘lack of commitment’ in relegation sport Wayne Rooney and Birmingham players

Tom Brady, co-owner of Birmingham City, publicly questioned the promises of former manager Wayne Rooney and marked some players in the 2023-24 roster as “lazy and qualified” in the new documentary.
The NFL legend became a minority stakeholder in the club in August 2023, commented in the Amazon Prime series released Friday, which listed Birmingham’s immediate return to the championship.
“I’m a little worried about our coach. [Rooney’s] Brady said in the video: “I mean, I don’t know, my intuition is not good.”
The club was hired two months after changing ownership, but was relegated to No. 1 in the league at the end of that season.
Brady said after the drop: “Okay, we’ve changed the coach, so it’s really the player because the coach isn’t there to throw the ball into the goal.
“They are lazy and qualifying and when you are lazy and qualifying, you don’t have much chance of success.
“We have to change everyone related to failure, so I think there will be a lot of people going away this summer.”
After the relegation, Birmingham spent a lot of time – breaking the league’s first transfer record – and breaking into the promotion on his first attempt, finishing the British Football League record with 111 points.
Their preparations for life in the championship game have seen six permanent signings, including former Premier League champion Demarai Gray and forward Kyogo Furuhashi, who joined from Reins for 9 million euros ($10 million).
Birmingham opens on August 8 at St Andrew’s 2025-26 season against Ipswich Town.
