Josko Gvardiol of Man City prepares for the new season with “Real Stromsto Mission”

While most footballers are resting in off-season or sticking to training, Josko Gvardiol’s idea is very different: Become a mature action hero.
Before the 2025/26 campaign, Manchester City’s defender placed himself in Croatia’s “Real Life Commando”, provided by Commando Squad 9, which transforms the tactical video game style war style into immersive, real-world experience.
Gvardiol wore full of military equipment and participated in various simulated combat challenges.
Photos shared on his Instagram show Croatian centre-backs rush into the forest, blending into the terrain, navigating water missions, and even simulated “enemy” – all along with Airsoftoft dungeons and professional oversight.
“The ultimate mental and physical preparation for the upcoming season!” Gvardiol captioned his post. “@commteros_9 is about converting tactical video games into reality – all Airsoft Replicas, and with these professionals, I feel 100% safe.”
“I’ve always wanted to know what it feels like to be a special forces team and complete a real commando mission,” he added.
Do you like living your own war movie fantasy? You can – but the package starts at £7,000. A sun lounger in Tenerife may be a safer (cheaper) bet.
