Fangraphs Weekly Mail Bags: July 26, 2025

This time next week, the trade season will end. We’ll know if the surge in winemakers adds another bat, if the Yankees, Mets and Dodgers are enough to deal with their injured pitchers, and the unification that will be worn throughout the season. We also hope that as we enter the dog era in August and look forward to the Pennant chase in September, we also have a better position to understand the team.
For many teams, the game between now and Thursday’s deadline will bear the weight of the next two months as their performance in extended games will shape their strategy for the rest of the season. All of this puts us ahead of our most exciting week. As always, we will cover chaos in Fangraphs and analyze readers’ size and size transactions.
Before we arrive at this week’s mail bag, I would like to remind everyone that while anyone can submit a question, the mail package is unique to Fanggraphs members. If you don’t have a membership yet and want to continue reading, you can sign up for a membership here. This is the best way to experience the site again and support our staff and brings many other huge benefits. Also, if you want to ask a question about an upcoming mailbag, please email me: sailbag@fangraphs.com.
