Forests are preparing for their first season in Europe since 1996, but so far this window is full of challenges.
Nuno Espírito Santo recently lost star attacker Anthony Elanga in a deal worth about £55m, and lost to Newcastle United, the British will be a painful turnover after scoring six goals and 12 assists last season.
The Forest continues to face the threat of Morgan Gibbs-White’s departure – despite Evangelos Marinakis threatening legal action, the Tottenhams are maintaining their pursuit of the 25-year-old, an equally crucial player for Nuno in 2024/2025.
Gibbs-White reportedly made it clear that he still wanted to join Tottenham Hotspur event despite playing in the preseason, and a transfer would eventually take place despite Nuno’s resistance.
“This will happen until the end of the window.
“The forest dug his heels; they obviously try to make as much money as possible, but they end up going through it.
“This is one of the deals Tottenham wants to achieve. Players obviously want to happen. This is a deal where the Forest is digging as much as possible.
“The last thing the Forest has to do is to keep an unpleasant player at the start of the season. So it’s a deal that should be done at some point, but it may take a little more time than they want and it may take longer than they want.”
If /when Gibbs whites leave, supporters will hope Marinakis and Co will reinvest the money in a severely weakened area of the reinforcement squad.

Bologna striker Dan Ndoye is the club’s best target as he has had nine goals and six assists in all competitions in his excellent season in Italy.
The 24-year-old is on both sides of these games, even a second-place striker, and he has the ability to play in multiple fields, which can be very useful for Nuno.
The newspaper Corriere Dello Sport updated the Swiss International chase this week, reporting that Forest has reached personal terms with Ndoye, but the valuation remains large.
Bologna hopes to sell Ndoi for about £39 million, and the forest has not even had a barrier of more than £26 million, so they must seriously raise the offer.
Serie A-winning Naples actually bids loan-to-buy against former FC Basel stars (including bonuses), but even Antonio Conte continues to replace the alternatives, which is not enough.
