Chelsea agrees to personal terms, signing £70 million ‘game-changing’
Chelsea’s pursuit of more offensive players this summer shows that Enzo Maresca hopes to challenge the Premier League and Champions League next season.
Given their performance at the Club World Cup, where they beat PSG to win the championship, the Blues could be a force to be ignored in 2025/26.
Alexander Isak is linked to the move in news that he is exploring Newcastle United’s options, with the Blues reportedly having a budget to pay such ambitious lashing.
While the transfer seems unlikely, it would indicate another huge statement of intention for the Blues if they manage to land him.
As for the transaction that secures Dutch signatures, Xavi Simons, this move is indeed very close.
Chelsea’s next step to close
According to Offside, Chelsea has reportedly signed his personal terms agreement with Simons with RB Leipzig.
As far as this fee is concerned, Germany has requested approval of €80 million (£70 million) which should not cause too many problems given Chelsea’s spending this summer.
Simmons will add some extra stuff to the already stacked Chelsea front next semester, but imagine they will get better as Isak will make sure it is unlikely to move to London.
Why Chelsea wants to sign Xavi Simons
The Dutch offer a lot of location flexibility, which is an extra bonus from Maresca. Indeed, last semester, he played 16 games on the left wing and served as an offensive midfielder in 15 games.
In both positions, Simmons registered 9 and 10 goals respectively, proving that he can shine wherever he is.
Of course, Isak will use the lonely center as the center, but there is no doubt that the Dutch youngsters will flourish behind the Swedes.
Compared to his positional companions in the Champions League last season, Simmons is noble on several indicators.
Not only did he rank in the top 9% (1.88) of successful breakups per 90 (1.88), but the 22-year-old ranked in the top 2% in shooting action (5.91), and the top 11% of goals in the European top club competition (3.22).

Production of goods at the largest tournament on the continent proves that Simmons is a man who, if it does not happen, will bring many opportunities to ISAK.
Indeed, in the Bundesliga, Simmons created an impressive 12 big chances for Leipzig, while averaging two key passes per game.
Maybe no wonder the Dutch little star was recently called “the game-changer” by talent scout Jacek Kulig, because the Netherlands performed the performance of Spain.
Take action this summer for the cherries on Maresca’s cake. There is nothing to figure out at this stage when Liverpool leads the striker.
If he has the talent of a player like Simons runs behind him, Isak will reach new heights at the Stamford Bridge. This is for sure.
