Washington Open: Emma Raducanu

After successfully converting her successfully into the only breakout point in Game 5, Rakanu won the first set.

She then broke her serve for the second time at the start of the second set and broke her serve for the second time after she retained a breakout point in Game 4 to lead 4-1.

With Osaka in Japan staying in the game, Radanu was unable to transform her first match in the seventh game.

But after rejecting the second match point and saving a breakout point, Radanu finished the victory in his third attempt, winning the second set 6-2.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, he said: “I think it will be a very difficult game.

“Naomi won four Grand Slams, she has always been ranked No. 1 in the world and won the master. She is so dangerous, and on the hard court, I think she is particularly at ease.

“I knew I was going to have to play well and manage my own service game and I was very proud of my performance. After I got used to a little bit, I was in a dilemma in her service game.

“I’m very happy with how the ball is handled in DC’s speed and condition.”

Raducanu will work with Elena Rybakina in women’s doubles action late Thursday with Giuliana Olmos and Aldila Sutjiadi in the women’s doubles action and in the quarterfinals with Giuliana Olmos and Aldila Sutjiadi.
