NHL Rumor: Montreal Canadian and Seven Potential Jason Robertson Destinations

Mike Matheson may not be in the long-term plan for the Montreal Canadaens, but he is now fit for the lineup
Dan Rosen of NHL.com: Montreal Canadiens defender Mike Matheson has one year left on a contract, which remains a big role for their blue line. Lane Hutson will need a new deal next season and will likely surpass Noah Dobson’s $9.5 million. Ivan Demidov will need a big deal in two years.
The top four Canadians after next season may include Hutson and Kayden Guller on the left, Dobson and David Renbach on the right. Right-handed Alexandre Carrier has two years left, and they have Jayden Struble (RFA) and Arber Xhakaj (a year away from RFA) LHD.

Jason Robertson’s Potential Trade Destinations
Ryan Dixon from Sportsnet: Look at seven teams, which could be a potential trade destination for Dallas star forward Jason Robertson.
The 25-year-old Robertson is paid $7.75 million. He will be RFA after next year and UFA in the second year. He has no trade protection, but there is indeed some leverage if he points out whether he will sign an extension with a potential team.
Los Angeles Kings – Hometown teams, they may be looking to increase their scores. The King’s direct business is that they need to re-sign the RFA Alex Laferriere, while Adrian Kempe qualifies for the extension.
Carolina Hurricanes – Nikolaj Ehlers have been signed, but more points can be used. Can the stars reconquer some of the draft picks they sent in the Mikko Rantanen deal?
Washington Capitals – Some salary needs to be moved out and may depend on the future of Alex Ovechkin. Additional points for next year will be welcome.
Columbus Blue Jacket – Will Stars be interested in winger Dmitri Voronkov? The blue jacket gives him free in Noah Dobson’s trade negotiations.
Detroit Red Wings – The Red Wings may need to take a trade route to increase their scores because they can’t even talk to the UFA they are interested in.
NHL Rumor: Add people, devils and stars
Seattle Cleken-Cleken can use some high-end scores. There are block space and multiple first-round picks in the next two drafts.
Utah Mammoth – If the stars are looking for current NHLE in the homeland, maybe Nick Schmaltz fits their top six for $5.85 million. The Mammoth also has three 2026 second-round draft picks and prospects.
