Bears are interested in Emmanuel Kras

The Cubs are one of the “most active monitoring” guardians of the club Emmanuel Clasereports on Francys Romero of Beisbolfr.com. Clase has recently been linked to clubs like the Dodgers and the Phillies in recent weeks. Before the 2024 season, the Bears were also connected to Kras.
The Cubs or any other club will be interested in Clase, who has always been one of the best close players in the sport. He has made 180 saves for Cleveland, the majority of the time it has been in the Grand Slams since 2021. His average running score was 1.77 at that time. His strikeout rate of 24.9% is just above average, unusual for a closer situation. However, his 4.7% walking rate and 58.4% ground ball rate are both very strong numbers.
Apart from the results, his contract is very favorable. He is paying 4.5mm this year and will earn 6mm next year. He then had a pair of $13mm options and bought the 2mm acquisition. Top close-up people in free agents Edwin Díaz and Josh Hard Able to ensure an average annual value of about 20 mm. Therefore, Kras’s transaction has surplus value.
However, it also makes him very valuable to low-paying clubs like The Guardian. They reportedly were willing to listen to the offer, but that didn’t mean they pushed him away. The last four consecutive wins have pulled them to 51-50, with only 2.5 games in the playoff bench. Their pre-registration schedule is on the softer side. They played with the Orioles today, playing three games in Kansas City and three games in Cleveland against the Rockies.
Perhaps the guardian can exit himself from the seller’s position and enter buyer mode, which may or may not affect the availability of Clase. It’s conceivable that they’re doing some sales but taking Kras or trading him while still hoping to compete. Guardians are usually willing to walk down the buy/sell ropes to balance their current and future needs. The decision probably depends on the offer they received. They also have other powerful relief workers, including Cade Smiththerefore, they might see the Kras trade as something that can upgrade another part of the roster without seriously hurting the bullpen. Again, if they weren’t offered to bowl, they wouldn’t rush to flip him.
It’s easy to see the appeal for the Cubs. They are one of the best teams in baseball, and obviously the buyer model this year. Elite rescuers have a great deal of importance in the playoffs, and the next day makes it possible for them to affect nearly every game.
The club’s Relief Legion has a collective 3.78 ERA, making them 10th in the major. Daniel Palencia It does a great job as it gets closer, but adding a Clase to the depth chart and moving everyone else to the nail makes the whole group stronger.
The deal to make Clase would require the club to be separated from some notable pieces to make it worthy of the Cleveland period, although perhaps the Cubs are willing to do so. They’re already Kyle Tucker In this offseason trade, maybe it can be made to pedal on the pedal. The Bears have some significant outfield prospects, including Owen Caissie and Kevin Alcántarathis is an area that Cleveland continues to focus on. It is unclear whether the Cubs are willing to offer any similar players for the bullpen upgrade. They have their own long-term outfield issues as Tucker is an upcoming free agent Ian Happ and Seiya Suzuki It will be designated as a free agent after 2026.
