What is professional golf missing? This CBS host has thought

As co-host of CBS Evening News, Maurice Dubois has been searching for this story. But now, he strives to find one in professional golf.
“What yes story? “Du Bois said in his recent Destination Golf Podcast.
This question is not rhetoric. He asked me, turning the table in the conversation I mainly interviewed him.
Since Dubois is a big name in webcasts that are closely linked to professional golf, I imposed advice on him about the game – the channels that cover it, which should improve TV ratings.

Dubois’s answer is as old as Aristotle: Golf requires narrative. Excellent lenses and beautiful graphics are not enough. People may listen to the latest scores. But they only Stay When the action has an arc, tune it with a character to tease it. Golf needs heroes, villains, competitors, foil. It begs for epic feats and destructive failures.
All great stories are said to follow one of two plot lines: a man goes on a trip and a stranger comes to the town.
The golfers seeking redemption are also good.
This happened last spring when Rory McIlroy won the Masters. But Dubois said otherwise, there are few great stories in professional games and very far apart.
“That’s Tiger’s time, he’s a story every week,” he said. “No matter what he does, everyone wants to see it. They’re excited about it.”
Time has changed. The current alpha Scottie Scheffler in the men’s game is dominating like a tiger, but has not resonated with a must-watch TV.
“Now,” Dubois said. “I can’t think of a story that people want to see.”

Dubois’s story in the game deserves a brief introduction here. He was the son of a Caribbean immigrant, and he grew up on Long Island, surrounded by large classes and participated in many sports, and was excluded.
“This is not even my radar,” Dubois said.
Tiger’s turn to Pro caught his attention. But the trick is to golf outings with colleagues while Dubois was working for NBC in 1999. During the event, he aired a lesson from teaching professionals and gave long-distance putts.
That’s another old story: a good shot, he’s fascinated.
Since then, Dubois has been addicted to New York and beyond in his 25 years of golf addiction. He was caught up in hacking as much as possible. But lately, these opportunities are slim.
This news is merciless. Big stories abound. Dubois is busy covering everyone. politics. culture. economics.
As for golf, if you find him a big story, he will also be on it.
Meanwhile, Dubois loves to talk about games. Hearing his thoughts about his favorite pastimes makes it so compelling for everyday players and why he feels that it is a responsibility for parents who play golf to introduce the game to their kids and then where you get the pods: Apple | Spotify | iheart | Amazon
