Manchester City midfielder ends 20 minutes of city career

Former Argentina Youth International Maximo Perrone hopes Pep Guardiola “every success” after Manchester City ends its 30-month spell at Manchester City and signs two-time Premier League champion CESC Fabregas on a four-year contract.

Midfielder Perrone signed a five-and-a-half-year contract from Velez Sarsfield in January 2023 for £8m, but participated for only 20 minutes and was loaned twice.

Perrone, 22, had his first and only Premier League appearance a month after his signing, replacing Erling Haaland with a 4-1 victory at Bournemouth.

Transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano said Cuomo paid about £11.3 million for Perrone.

Perrone set up a match with Sarsfield on Argentina’s top flight in 2022, with Manchester City making a appearance in addition to his 18-minute cameo against the Cherries, winning two minutes of the fifth round of the 3-0 FA Cup in Bristol City three days later.

He provided Argentina with two assists and one goal in the 2023 Under 20 World Cup football match, but was not a substitute in his final 16 games against Nigeria.

He repeatedly substituted alternatives in domestic matches and in the Champions League, and he loaned to Spain’s Las Palmas on 2023/24 before Como borrowed a Buenos Aires-born player last season.

“He quickly settled, got to know exactly how we wanted to play and became a big figure in the team,” Fabregas said, spending 13 years in England with Arsenal and Chelsea and winning 2014/15 and 2016/17 titles with the Blues.

Como finished tenth in the first season of the 2024/25 season with former Spanish midfielder Fabregas recovering from two wins and seven losses in their first 15 league games and six straight wins in April and May.
