Wimbledon attracts digital audiences of record to BBC Sport

Wimbledon attracted a record 69.3 million digital video landscape for the BBC Sport during the two-week race.

The audience watched the game through BBC Iplayer, the BBC Sport website and the BBC Sport App.

This is a considerable increase compared to 500.1 million online requests in 2024, which fell from 54.3 million in 2023.

The men’s singles final between rivals Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner had a peak TV and online audience of 8.8 million, almost all – 8.3 million – to watch on BBC One.

In the women’s final, 4.1 million entered BBC One to watch Iga Swiatek defeating Amanda Anisimova to win her first Wimbledon title.

Alex Kay-Jelski, director of BBC Sport, said: “The digital figures that set record numbers for Wimbledon this year demonstrate the sport’s enormous appeal to audiences and the power of digital innovation, bringing new and existing fans closer to this action than ever before.

“The way people are paying attention to Wimbledon is changing, but it’s exciting for us because we want to tell the best story in different ways.”
