This year’s amateur draft is in full swing, and we’ll update this post all night, every first round selection. More details and scout reports about all of these young players are available from the front draft rankings of Kiley McDaniel of America, Fangraphs, MLB Pipeline, Athletic’s Keith Law and ESPN. Likewise, Pipeline also has a breakdown of slot values assigned to each draft pick in the first 10 rounds, as well as a reward pool available to all 30 teams.

Since the Mets, Yankees and Dodgers’ first round, the first round has officially consisted of only 27 draft picks, with their first round options down 10 slots. The three teams surpassed the third luxury tax tier in 2024, so their penalties include a 10-slot drop in the opening draft.

The draft for 2025 was separated on two nights. The 4-20 round will be held tomorrow, and the draft’s first 105 pick will stand out from the board tonight. The 105 draft picks include suitable rounds in the first three rounds, two competitive balance rounds, and two sets of representative rounds (providing picks for free agents who have lost their qualified offer), and Royals earned the 28th pick for the promotion prospects and promotion rewards. The 105th and final option of the night would be the Angels’ compensation option as they disagree with the deal with 81st pick Ryan Prager.
