Ritchie Paul: LeBron James does not ask for a deal

Dave McMenamin: Now, I have signed this with the Lakers and LeBron camp. For the Lakers, it’s business as usual. They have the motivation to compete at the highest level and maximize LeBron’s timeline and want to compete with Luka Doncic now. Some say the real reason for this is that the Lakers are not offering LeBron contracts outside next season. But Ritchie Paul told me they never asked for one. Paul also made it clear to me that LeBron did not ask for a deal. Paul didn’t even discuss the possibility of future trade with the Lakers. Paul did tell me that there were four teams interested in the LeBron deal. So now we wait. The Lakers have a full lineup that can decide to sign in Shake Milton’s contract by July 20. They have three expiring contracts here tonight, Rui Hachimura and Maxi Kleber, and the 2031 first-round picks they can use in the trade scenario. Now, I asked LeBron before tipping if he wanted to join the radio to discuss everything, he told me, quote: “I have nothing to talk about, guys.”
