Over the past decade, Wimbledon, there were only four different men’s winners, while the Women’s Championship had nine different championships.
Daniela Hantuchova, formerly ranked fifth in the world, believes that the spread of the Grand Slam champion in women’s tennis is due to the strength of the entire field.
“I think this field is much stronger in the top 100 – physics has moved to another level,” Hantonwa said.
“This makes our tour even more exciting because we have a lot of different stories. It makes our sports more entertaining and exciting.”
Former Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli said there are no outstanding players now, unlike Serena Williams who dominate.
“Like Steffi Graf, like Monica Seles or Billie-Jean King and Martina Navratilova, you can get on the list of all the great men,” she said.
“When you have the opportunity to play games in a time like Serena, it’s an opportunity because she helps us try to take our game to another level.
“That advantage factor, like Rafael Nadal, who tried to beat Roland Garros, has given fewer chances for other members in other fields to be champions.”
