Designer – User Interface/Experience Baseball Operations

Designers – The user interface/experience will provide user-centric design solutions to balance operational goals and technical feasibility. They will work closely with baseball operation software engineers, designers and department leadership to shape, prototype, and create user experiences that enhance existing web and mobile technologies and new tools.
The core responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Design processes from discovery and wireframe to medium-term to high-fidelity visual design and software engineer engagement, including but not limited to our baseball operational in-house applications.
  • Work with the Baseball Systems team to ensure that the platform is feasible to our users, translated and functional.
  • Conduct user research, user usability and competitive analysis to inform design decisions when evaluating and updating our platform.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Human Computer Interaction (HCI), design, computer science or related fields, as well as 2 to 5 years of professional UX/UI design experience. or related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The baseball system is the backbone of baseball operations. We provide data and decision-making tools for analysts, coaches and front desk staff to help win the World Series. Our department consists of a team of data engineers and a team of software engineers who work in all aspects of baseball operations, providing support and tools related to each group. We work directly with stakeholders in every part of the baseball business unit to ensure that every project we work on brings value to the organization and help us win more games on the spot. We help drive technological innovation to find new ways to solve baseball problems.

Software Engineer (Baseball System)

job description
The software engineer (baseball system) will work with the system team to build functionality for stakeholders. This position requires strong software development skills and experience, as well as performance abilities with independent thinking and willingness to work within a team framework.

The core responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide highly reliable, easy-to-use software under the supervision of department leaders while becoming part of the fast-moving team.
  • Maintain the ability to provide information to stakeholders while collaborating with data engineering, technology operations and R&D.
  • Propose visualizations or interfaces that convey the expected information to a wide audience throughout baseball operations.

Ideal candidates will receive a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or related fields from a four-year university or university; and three years of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
