On Thursday night, the San Antonio Spurs will face the Philadelphia 76ers. In the 2025 draft, the Spurs elected Rutgers’ Dylan Harper as a whole. However, the young defender is not expected to face Philadelphia. Harper is reportedly dealing with a persistent groin injury. His debut in the summer league will be postponed. With an optimistic attitude, Harper will be a great show on Saturday when the Spurs faced No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg and the Mavericks.

In the second pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, the Spurs picked Dylan Harper from Rutgers. After Cooper Flagg ranked first, Harper was the second choice for the class consensus this year. When San Antonio earned a #2 draft pick through the lottery draft, there was no doubt who they would take. Dylan Harper is an easy choice for the Spurs, who are building a team at Victor Wembanyama.

Media members are eager to see how the first-year head coach can use Dylan Harper next season. The team has a lot of point guards. Dylan Harper, De’aaron Fox and Stephon Castle all play similar roles. Due to his size and upside, the Spurs can use Dyland Harper. Even the Castle won Rookie of the Year in 2024-25.
Dylan Harper has incredible potential for San Antonio. Along with Victory Wembanyama, he could be an All-Star. De’aaron Fox may continue to start the Spurs with PG. Harper can adjust his game style and become an SG, and he still has a knack for building teammates. San Antonio is building a contender for the future and adding Dylan Harper this offseason.
