July 9: The Blue Jays are reportedly trading outfielders Will Robertson Go to the white socks. The move has not been announced by any team, first reported by @jeffreycole2525 and confirmed by James Fegan of Soxmachine. Toronto designated Robertson for the mission on the weekend.
Chicago has opened in a 40-man lineup after completion Vinny Capra. They will use the position to fly Robertson, a 27-year-old Robertson with his three major league games. Robertson is a Creighton product and was Toronto’s fourth-round draft pick in 2019. He never had a huge prospect, but he performed well in his second season in the Division III A. Robertson connected 14 home runs with the .292/.403/.578 diagonal in 62 minor league games this year. He was walking with a large 15.5% clip while hitting about a quarter of the time. Jays’s outfield performance was pretty deep and didn’t give Robertson a chance to see a third of his work that he could do on major league pitching. He has some midfield experience, but is more suitable in the corner.
The White Sox can trade Louis Robert,,,,, Andrew Benintendi and Mike Tauchman this month. Backup outfielder Austin Slater and Michael A. Taylor It can also be traded or released. They should be able to find a Tahman assistant, who took on the right field job for the starter after showing .297/.379/.459 performance. Robertson may start his organizational tenure on an optional mission in Triple-A Charlotte, but should maintain a good match time after the deadline.
