Super Stewart soars to second Logan Trophy title – Golf News

Hampshire’s Stuart Archibald won the second Logan Trophy after becoming the only player to win at Rockliffe Hall.

The Test Valley golfer won five shots after winning the championship at Liphook in 2022, 73, 72 and 69 (-3) on the final day, which gave him his second Logan Trophy.

He said: “It is an honor to play in any English golf tournament and I’m glad to win another trophy, which is a great achievement. My irons are really solid, my puttings are probably as good as ever, which has always been my fatal weakness, but I’ve always been considerate before, but I put them on the back nine and it’s lovely enough to finish it.

“The wind was really tough in the first two days. One of the advantages of my game has been my distance control and golfing and it was tough to take it to a plateau with some pins. I think everyone was struggling and it created some challenges in putting and keeping the ball playing.”

Asked where he would put the trophy if he hopes to defend his title next year, Archibald added: “It depends on where my partner will put me in! She doesn’t like me bringing the trophy!

“I want to dedicate this victory to my partner Ashley and daughter Sofia – we hope to have another child in December – so if I will depend on whether I will allow me to leave the house next year!

“I wish I could play in Hadley Wood and the second year it was on my old club Blackmoor, so I would definitely want to come back and win there.

Drive north

“I’m going to drive to Edinburgh to work at the Scottish Open to celebrate the victory, so I haven’t played golf for a few days and then I’ll go to the Open in Ireland, so hopefully I can enjoy a Guinness or two there!”

The first two days of the Logan Trophy, there was a 40 mph wind that made the segment tricky until the last day calmed down until heavy showers hit the leading group on the court.

James Glenn hit five shots on the ninth day of the second, meaning the Oakland Bishop joined Archibald’s final pair on the last day, and both were excellent in the 5, 6 and 7 games in the 5, 6 and 7, giving him a lead at the top.

Almost ended Glen’s hopes, while Archibald maintained the courage of 12, 15 and 17 to win.

Chester-le-Street’s Kevin Suggett had the round of the tournament on the final day as he produced a bogey-free 67 (-5) to finish 2nd, while John Sadler (Bromborough) Geoff Harris (Formby) and Mark Wharton (Newcastle United) shot rounds of 70 (-2) to force their way up the leaderboard, but it was Sadler, Martin McCririck (South Shields) and Glenn,

It turns out that the 4th eight was the biggest test for the player of the week, with only seven birdies being made from 312 punches, an average of 4.97. It turns out that the simplest hole is 5-3, with an average score of 5.04.
