Wimbledon 2025 results: Cruz Hewitt is Leiden’s son

Australia’s Cruz Hewitt made his first appearance at Wimbledon after his father Lleyton won the men’s singles title 23 years ago.

The 16-year-old boy wore his father’s trademark backward hat, his father’s trademark, in the first round of the boys’ match, defeated Russia’s Savva Rybkin 6-1 6-2.

Lleyton defeated David Nalbandian in the 2002 Wimbledon final, and his son’s victory was in court.

Former world No. 1 Leiden also won the 2001 U.S. Open and reached the final of the 2005 Australian Open.

Cruz made his debut at the 2025 Australian Open, who was awarded a wildcard to enter the qualifying round.

He lost in the first round and then entered the second round of his junior year.

Cruz plays with Britain’s Mark Ceban in SW19’s Boys Doubles and will next face Finland’s 11th seed Oskari Paldanius.
