Hurricane will provide a defense lawyer before dealing with Rangers
Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman was on the NHL network on July 1st on free agent day and was asked about K’andre Miller Trade. Friedman said the Carolina Hurricanes will provide Evan Bouchard or K’andre Miller’s table before trading Miller.

Elliotte Friedman: “So, the Rangers (New York) signed Vladislav Gavrikov to seven times and seven times. And, the belief is that if they got Gavrikov, they would move K’andre Miller.
Just to give you an idea of what I think is going on in Carolina in the last few days, Evan Bouchard finished his deal in Edmonton, four and a half times. On this year’s trade deadline, when (Mikko) Rantanen was still in Carolina, they talked to Edmonton about the player, and I believe the player they asked for was Bouchard. Edmonton remembers this.
There are many hat rooms in Carolina. Carolina has many asset drafts, draft capital. And I think the Oilers are worried that the Hurricanes will offer Busard. So they signed him to the extension. He wasn’t even allowed to till July 1.
Now, I think they are shifting their focus to Miller, and they are interested in doing so. I think the Wanderers know that, and I think what the Wanderers do is that they will trade Miller into the hurricane. I do think Miller might be the Hurricane’s offer order target, but rather, two teams, sorry, those two teams will reach an agreement with it.

In exchange, the ranger obtained a conditional 2026 first-round draft pick (under top 10), 2026 second-round draft pick and defenseman Scott Morrow.
So, it was a victory for both teams. However, the transaction is similar to the offer on Miller’s table. So Rangers and Hurricanes reached a deal to send Miller to Carolina. This is also a high price for internal departments, but it is the price the team has to pay.
But imagine if Carolina sent a quote to Evan Bouchard? You have to think the oilman will match, but with that being said, will the owner pay Bouchard?
