In addition to Metinho, the Rangers also negotiated with Southampton on a deal for Flynn Towns, according to TeamTalk.
The report noted that Martin signed a deal from West Ham United in the summer of 2023, worth £18 million, before that, with Downes working with him during his tenure as Swansea City Manager. It doesn’t say what type of deal Rangers are looking for, because midfielder was still under St. Mary’s contract until the summer of 2028.
The 26-year-old, dubbed the “class” by Dan Woffenden, has been a regular at Southampton for two seasons at the club. In their promotional event, Towns played 33 times in the regular season and had three games in the playoffs. Last season, Towns started 25 of his 27 Premier League games.
During his time at Swansea, Martin tagged Downes as “incredible” and a player who performed “dirty well-worked”. Martin said: “Flynn is incredible; it’s hard to be single, but he does a great job. He enables others to play their roles brilliantly. He knew exactly what his role was in the team. ”
