New York Knicks are expected to hire Mike Brown as their next head coach
In the regular season of 2024-25, the Knicks finished the game with a 51-31 record. That was the third best record in the Eastern Conference. New York, led by head coach Tom Thibodeau, played in the 25-year final for the first time.
However, the Knicks lost to the Pacers in six games and Tibodo was fired after the series. Last month, New York had been looking for their next head coach. They interviewed several candidates and finally made a decision. NBA insiders report that the Knicks are expected to hire Mike Brown as their next head coach.

After losing to the Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals, the Knicks shot head coach Tom Thibodeau. He spent five seasons with the team and made the playoffs four times. His best season in New York was 2024-25 with a record of 51-31. Thibodeau helped New York reach the ECF for the first time since the 1999-00 season. Nevertheless, the team separates the road from Thibodeau.
New York asked to interview five active head coaches in the NBA. They were rejected by all five and turned the focus into available candidates. These include former Sacramento Kings head coach Mike Brown. He was a finalist for the New York Knicks vacant head coaching position and announced Wednesday that he received the job. Brown was coach of the year twice in 11 seasons.

Team Chairman Leon Rose went through a thorough interview process after firing Tom Thibodeau. Mike Brown went through several stages before performing with New York. This will be his fourth team as head coach. Brown started with the Cavaliers in 2005-06. He was named Coach of the Year in 2008-09. From 2011-12 to 2012-13, Brown served as head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Brown returned to six seasons of assistants before hiring him in 2022-23. He spent three seasons in Sacramento before firing him after 31 games in 2024-25. Mike Brown will be head coach of The Knicks in 2025-26 and he has big shoes to fill. Tom Thibodeau made the playoffs four times in five seasons. In addition, under the leadership of Thibodeau, the team once had a record of failure. Mike Brown will become the 32nd head coach of the New York Knicks.
