Sunderland beats Leeds and Milan

Sunderland has agreed with Strasbourg to the cost of Senegal International Habib Diarra.

The newly promoted Wearsiders will pay the midfielder £27 million, up to £30 million, who starred in the country’s recent 3-1 victory over England on the city ground.

Dirra made her debut in Strasbourg in 2021 and has grown rapidly, becoming captain last season.

Reports show that Sunderland defeated Leeds, AC Milan and Eintracht Frankfurt to sign the 21-year-old who will be medically available in the coming days.

Sunderland returns to Premier League

It was an exciting addition to Regis Le Bris’s side, who beat Sheffield United in the playoff final in May to ensure they returned to the top flight after eight years of absence.

Sunderland is also associated with Lazio midfielder Matteo Guendouzi and Nice goalkeeper Marcin Bulka.

If Dirra moves to the Bright Stadium, it would be a record fee for Sunderland, exceeding the £20 million Enzo Le fee they received after getting the promotion.

Sunderland sold Jobe Bellingham to Borussia Dortmund for £27.8 million ahead of the club World Cup, while Wembley hero Tommy Watson joined Brighton for £10 million.
