Man Utd Open talks to sign “incredible” GK

Andre Onana, once seen as a huge signing for Manchester United, has the potential to upgrade David de Gea after the release of Espanyol in 2023.

The Red Devils charged a fee in the £47.2 million region to sign him from Inter on the same summer when the deal was seen as a shrewd business.

However, nearly two years after his large transfer to Old Trafford, the Cameroonian failed to deliver, causing numerous lls on the side of Ruben Amorim at a critical moment.

He had eight turnovers in his goal this season, undoubtedly because of admitting Brennan Johnson’s efforts, and eventually they suffered a defeat in the Europa League final.

Surprisingly, no one sees other goals considered in the summer transfer window, and if the club is going to take the next step in the coming years, there is a desperate need for a new shooter.

Manchester United’s latest search for new goalkeeper

Burnley’s Guardian James Trafford was seen as a viable option for Manchester United earlier this summer, with his 29 clean sheets attracting the eyes this season – but the former Manchester City youngster has not yet made any deals.

Champions League champion Gianluigi Donnarumma is also seen as a potential addition, but their pursuit of his signature has been thwarted after Italians expressed their desire to stay at PSG.

As a result, the Red Devils had to work elsewhere, seemingly heading towards the right direction towards the signing of Lille star Lucas Chevalier.

Their report claims Amorim’s team has held talks with the 23-year-old agent because they are willing to sign a player who keeps 11 clean sheets in 34 Ligue 1 outings in 2024/25.

It also noted that they face competition from fellow British Aston Villa, French clothing demanded to pay in the £50 million region to split the way with promising talent.

Why Cheavlier is better than Martinez to fight for Manchester United

As mentioned earlier, United have been working to identify Amorim’s new goalkeeper in recent weeks, before shifting their attention to Villa’s Emiliano Martínez.

Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez reacts

Argentina has been one of Europe’s most impressive scorers in recent seasons, winning the goalkeeper of the year twice in the past three years.

This season is no different, winning the league’s Season Saving Award, but it seems to be leaving Unai Emery’s team to avoid PSR violations that require sales.

They reportedly offered the 32-year-old a £40 million request this summer, with the player himself said to be keen on joining the Red Devils.

However, the club should stay away from Martinez in the next few months and focus their focus on Chevrolet, while the Frenchman offered Amorim better options.

At the age of 23, he had the potential to be one of the leading European talents in such a position and even excelled in many key areas of the sport, which is the talent he has.

A analyst, tagged as “incredible” Lille, admitted fewer goals and kept cleaner sheets in 2024/25 – delivering Manchester United to the quality they lack between sticks.

He also made better savings percentages and earned more savings per 90 points, which highlights why he was young and why he became better, higher increase.

Chevalier played the ball at his feet, completed more passes and recorded fewer mistakes that led to the goal and offered Amorim the option to play from behind.

While £50 million seems like a huge number for young goalkeepers, the Lille star proves that he is a competent option that will only get better in the coming years.

Martinez is likely to be a solid short-term solution for this issue, but Chevrolet is easily the club’s number one in the next decade, as the hierarchy needs to prioritize signatures at the Argentinian this summer.
