Marner Signature Deal, McDavid Conference and More NHL Rumors – Hockey Writer – NHL Rumors

Amid today’s NHL rumor, the Edmonton Oilers have flew to Ontario to start a conversation with Connor McDavid. What are they talking about? Meanwhile, Tomas Hertl was reportedly shopping by Vegas Golden Knights to make room for Mitch Marner. Is that guess reasonable? If not, the Golden Knights might seek a deal to free up space? Is Tampa Bay Lightning done with Cam Atkinson? Finally, Jonathan Marchessault’s trade rumors were exposed by Barry Trotz, general manager of the Predator.

Oil Man and McDavid sit down and chat

“It sounds like Stan Bowman and Jeff Jackson are in Ontario, meeting with McDavid’s agent Judd Moldaver,” TSN’s Ryan Rishaug reported Tuesday. “The wider discussion on organization and direction is the starting point.”

As both sides continue to work on all aspects of the process, negotiations are expected to extend beyond July 1. At this stage, it is believed that no specific figures were exchanged, and the discussion remains focused on broader large-scale considerations.

Is Las Vegas ready to move Hertel or Carlson to Mana?

There was a chat on Monday, and the Las Vegas Golden Knights were shopping for Tomas Hertl, trying to clear the cap space by July 1. It is speculated that the Carolina Hurricane might be the Eastern team that talks to Las Vegas, but there is a challenge later that day. Later, Frank Seravalli and Jeff Marek also said that there was no concrete evidence that the Golden Knights were actively shopping for Hertl. Marek was told: “Don’t spend too much time chasing this time.”

It became a story later, and many of the Ronto Maple Leafs might have a logo deal with Las Vegas. According to Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos, the deal may involve William Karlsson. He said Yezi has given priority to finding second-tier centers.

As for Las Vegas’ efforts, he explained:

“With the bars so high in Vegas, I don’t want George McPhee and Kelly McCrimmon to stay idle for a long time. There’s a lot of speculation that they’re ready to play a lot of games in Marner. That’s what we’ll keep an eye on is that we’ll be here to get how William Karlsson got into the Golden Knights’ range. Bringing the main assets to the Golden Knights while freeing up some much-needed hat space, if not Karlsson, should have some attention on Tomas Hertl, another center in Vegas.

Kypreos later wrote in his column that Karlsson may be the more likely both to move, but Hertl is “not an unshakable asset.” He made $6.75 million to CAP before 2029-30 years and had a modified no-trade clause.

Lightning will not keep Kam Atkinson

According to David Pagnotta of Phase 4, the Tampa Bay Lightning will not offer a contract for veteran forward Cam Atkinson. Atkinson signed a one-year, $900,000 contract with Tampa Bay to restore his career, but he worked hard to make an impact and he would become an unrestricted free agent.

He recorded just four goals and nine points in 39 games, which is usually a healthy scratch and was abandoned in March. At 36, Atkinson’s future in the NHL is uncertain due to recent injury issues and production declines.

Marchessault is not being shopped, he is not looking for a deal

John Glennon of the Nashville Post reported that rumors were circulating that the Predators might be seeking to trade veteran forward Jonathan Marchessault was inaccurate. GM Barry Trotz said today that there is no truth in the rumors and that Marchessault is not available at the moment.

Trotz does admit that he heard enough rumble to assure the striker’s agent Pat Brisson was called. He wanted to make sure the rumors were not true. “Nothing happened. I don’t know if anything happened, so I just checked it out with him, maybe I missed something. I missed nothing.”
