Andy Murray: Wimbledon statue of British tennis designated for all England clubs in 2027

The All England Club will contribute to Sir Andy Murray with his statue at the Wimbledon Statue.
Murray defeated Novak Djokovic with an unforgettable victory in 2013, ended the UK’s 77-year men’s singles title at Wimbledon and again won in 2016 when he beat Milos Raonic at SW19.
Former Wimbledon CEO Richard Lewis told the BBC Sport in 2019 that the club will use statues to honor Murray after the game.
The Scots retired from professional tennis in August 2024 after appearing at the Paris Olympics.
All England Club President Debbie Jevans told Ainslie + Ainslie Performance People Podcast,,,,, External Discussions are now being held with 38-year-old Murray to treat the promise well and hope that the statue will not be realized until 2027.
“We want to have a statue of Andy Murray here [at Wimbledon] We are working closely with him and his team. ” Jevas said.
“It is ambitious that we will announce it on the 150th anniversary of our first championship’s birth (1877). He must be involved correctly and he and his team will be.”
The bronze statue of Fred Perry, the last British men’s champion before Murray, was erected in 1984 at Wimbledon to mark the 50th anniversary of his first singles title.
Jevas said Murray offers a “special” moment in the club’s history and is equally worthy of immortality.
She added: “Now that he is retired, we are very researching how to embrace him and in the long run he is a part of the club.”
“We looked at the kind of plaque that Rafa Nadal unveiled to him at Roland Garros, and that was all special. What do we think, do we want Andy?”
