Aston Villa is accelerating his pursuit of Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount, according to football insiders.
The 26-year-old midfielder, once considered one of the smartest creative talents in British football, fell at Old Trafford’s pecking order after injury setbacks and form declines.
He showed some hope at the end of the Europa League season, but consistency remains his biggest issue since he moved to Old Trafford.
While there is no certainty that the Red Devils will let midfielders leave the club this summer, it is very likely that they will explore the market to see if any suitors can fit into the UK midfielder.

“Aston Villa has talked about it and I think they can take action.
“People remember Mason riding the best thing, that’s what Vera wanted to help him get back, and it seems he’s back to full fitness now.
“His move toward Manchester United is by no means positive, but he is still a talented player.
“Villa wanted to strengthen because they lost Rashford and Asensio, so Mount was on their list.
“Unai Emery is a fan of him and feels he can help him rediscover his Chelsea.”

Moving to Aston Villa can revive Mount’s career just as Emery bypassed Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio’s form.
United are actively looking for new signings this summer and the mountain may find itself going further.
No doubt his quality remains his biggest problem.
